Ready to Protect Your Well-Being While Strengthening Your Ethical Practice?
Join us for an engaging 3-hour ethics training, The Ethics of Self-Care: Preventing Compassion Fatigue and Impairment in the Helping Professions, presented by Christy Pennison, LPC-S. Designed specifically for mental health professionals, this training explores the ethical responsibility clinicians have to monitor their own well-being, recognize signs of impairment, and proactively engage in sustainable self-care practices that protect both themselves and the clients they serve.
Mental health professionals dedicate their careers to helping others navigate trauma, crisis, grief, and emotional pain. While this work is deeply meaningful, it also carries significant personal and professional risks. Without intentional attention to our own wellness, compassion fatigue, burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and impairment can quietly develop—impacting clinical judgment, effectiveness, ethical decision-making, and overall quality of care.
Through interactive discussion, self-reflection, case examples, and practical application, you’ll gain evidence-based strategies to strengthen resilience, recognize warning signs early, and build a sustainable career rooted in ethical practice.
Why Attend This Training?
As helping professionals, we are ethically responsible for maintaining our competence—not only through continuing education, but by caring for our own physical, emotional, relational, and professional well-being.
Many clinicians believe self-care is optional or something to prioritize “when life slows down.” In reality, ethical practice requires us to continually evaluate our wellness, recognize when stress begins affecting our work, and take appropriate action before impairment occurs.
Whether you’re a counselor, social worker, psychologist, marriage and family therapist, or another helping professional, this training will provide practical strategies to help you care for yourself while continuing to provide exceptional care for others.
