Ready to Better Understand the Science Behind Trauma?

Join us for an engaging 3-hour clinical training, The Alarm That Won’t Turn Off: The Neurobiology of Trauma and Chronic Stress, presented by Michalene Perry, LPC, NCC. Designed specifically for mental health professionals, this training will deepen your understanding of how trauma and chronic stress reshape the brain and nervous system while providing practical, neuroscience-informed strategies to improve treatment planning and client outcomes.

Trauma affects much more than memories. It changes the way the brain processes information, responds to perceived threats, regulates emotions, and forms relationships. Understanding these neurobiological changes allows clinicians to move beyond asking, “What’s wrong with this client?” and begin asking, “What happened to this client’s nervous system?”

Through interactive discussion, real-world case examples, and practical clinical application, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of trauma neuroscience and leave with tools you can immediately incorporate into your clinical practice.

Why Attend This Training?

Understanding the neurobiology of trauma changes the way we conceptualize clients and the interventions we choose.

Clients living with the effects of trauma often experience persistent hypervigilance, emotional dysregulation, memory difficulties, chronic stress, and survival-based behaviors that can seem confusing without an understanding of how trauma impacts the brain.

Whether you work in private practice, healthcare, schools, or community mental health, this training will help you better understand the brain’s response to trauma while strengthening your ability to develop effective, trauma-informed treatment plans that support lasting healing.

What You Will Learn

Define Trauma and Its Impact on Individuals:
Explore how trauma and chronic stress affect key brain structures, including the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex, and how these changes influence emotions, behavior, learning, and relationships.
Recognize the Impact of Nervous System Dysregulation
Learn how chronic activation of the autonomic nervous system contributes to hyperarousal, hypoarousal, emotional dysregulation, and survival responses commonly seen in clinical practice.
Apply Neuroscience to Clinical Assessment and Treatment Planning
Strengthen your case conceptualization by understanding how trauma affects cognition, emotional regulation, attachment, and executive functioning while identifying interventions that align with clients' neurobiological needs
Learn Evidence-Based Strategies That Support Brain and Nervous System Healing
Discover practical, neuroscience-informed interventions that promote regulation, resilience, neuroplasticity, and recovery while supporting long-term healing.
