Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner
Does your child struggle with accepting the word “no”?
Do they act out in ways that causes you as a parent to feel overwhelmed and uncertain of how to help your child?
Does your teen feel worried about little things that cause big problems?
I have worked with children, teens and young adults for many years. As a Trust-Based Relational Practitioner, I use play approaches to help children identify and express emotions. Through play a child can understand that emotions are not bad. They can also find ways to express their emotions in appropriate ways. This can help them become more confident in their interactions with the world around them.
When working with children and teens, I want to help parents and caregivers to learn ways to help their child become more confident. The parents I work with discover ways to connect and empower their child to express their emotions and develop healthy coping skills as they figure out this thing we call “life”.
From children who struggle with overwhelming emotions to those adjusting to life transitions, I help them find their voice and become more comfortable with expressing how they feel and what they need.
We all have worries, but when the worries seem to control your life it can be overwhelming. I help anxious teens and young adults find ways to manage their fears and worries. Through counseling, I help them find ways to manage their fears and worries so they can live fully.
I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy through the Rosenzweig Center for Rapid Recovery. This is a unique approach to psychotherapy which guides the client to replace traumatic and negative images in their mind with positive images that the client chooses. It is a very effective approach that helps with stopping intrusive thoughts and other symptoms that cause negative sensations in the body.

about me
I grew up in Grand Cane, LA, in a family where hard work was valued. Growing up, I experienced many challenges in my own life that have allowed me to have a unique understanding of the struggles the individuals I work with are facing.
When in school, I thought I was going to be a Radiologist. But that all changed after one psychology class when we discussed working with children who had experienced trauma. I realized then counseling was were I was meant to be. I’ve worked in many different settings in my 15 years as a counselor. I’ve worked in alternative schools, helped foster/adoptive parents, collaborated with FINS and other community agencies, and volunteered, giving me a unique perspective. I love working with children. I feel like I’m always learning from them, whether it’s the children I work with or my own. And I enjoy helping parents learn ways to navigate helping their child grow and learn.
When I’m not helping others, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 3 children, and fur babies.
