About the Trainer
Melissa McKinney, LCSW-BACS, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor with certification as a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS). She has extensive experience supporting children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, loss, and life transitions.
Melissa specializes in working with clients experiencing complicated and prolonged grief and integrates evidence-based approaches with compassionate, client-centered care. Her work emphasizes meaning-making, narrative processing, and culturally responsive practices that honor the emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual dimensions of grief.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Melissa brings supervisory experience and practical insight into how grief presents across diverse populations and settings. Her engaging teaching style blends research, real-world case examples, and actionable tools, ensuring clinicians leave equipped and confident in applying what they’ve learned.
