Lauren Callahan, PLPC

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor

Everyone at some point has parts of them that feel sad, angry, confused, afraid, stressed, tired, even physically ill, or somehow not on top of their game.  But when these parts start to feel extreme, or as though they are taking over and running your life, it can make your whole world feel chaotic.  Everything can seem difficult, from relationships and parenting, to careers and hobbies, and even our physical health and spiritual experience.

Too often, our gut reaction is to cope with, or manage these emotions and seemingly “difficult” parts of us–even to silence them or get rid of them.  But the truth is….there is nothing wrong with them.  These parts of you showed up at some point in your life to help you in some way.  But they were never meant to lead your life.

Using a mind-body-spirit approach, and an internal family systems perspective, I love helping folks discover those “difficult” parts of their lives that seem to have taken over and started leading the way.  I help clients to move beyond simply coping with or managing stress and chaos to actually healing those parts of us that seem to be the culprits.  From there, I help people discover and trust their perfectly capable, completely trustworthy, deepest sense of self to lead the way in their new incredibly strong, fulfilling, and meaningful lives.

There is nothing wrong with you.  Only a fulfilling life waiting for you.  Take the first step by setting up an appointment with me, and let’s get started.

about me

A counselor, baker, and athlete-maker, I have lived in New Orleans, Canada, and Bangladesh, and explored numerous cultures and religions from around the world.  I have gone from a victim-martyr-and-otherwise-helpless mindset to experiencing a strong-healing-and-otherwise-awesome-I-love-who-I-am kind of life.

I love helping people feel connected with and deeply trusting of themselves, and I have an immense amount of respect for the unique mindsets, experiences, backgrounds, and cultures of the clients I work with.  As a very late-blooming athlete myself, I also love helping other athletes and anyone with an adventurous spirit figure out why their body doesn’t always seem to want to tag along, and to achieve their fullest potential.

When I am not working, I love to run, bike, standup paddleboard, trail hike, swim, garden, raise chickens, and do just about anything that can be done outside, or go on any number of other backyard adventures with my very large family.
