About the Trainer

James Harrison is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a strong background in addiction therapy, having worked in both Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and private practice settings. He is currently a PhD student in Counseling and Educational Psychology, researching the innovative use of gaming as a therapeutic modality, alongside other research interests such as the effects of late ADHD diagnosis in adults.

With years of experience helping individuals navigate addiction and mental health challenges, James combines his clinical expertise with his personal passion for gaming. As a lifelong gamer, he has a unique perspective on how video games can be leveraged in therapy to promote engagement, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. James brings both professional experience and a personal understanding to the table, offering a well-rounded and insightful approach to treating gaming-related issues in mental health settings.

His research on integrating gaming into therapy sets him apart as a forward-thinking professional dedicated to finding creative, evidence-based approaches to mental health care. Whether it’s through gaming or other therapeutic interventions, James is passionate about empowering clients to overcome challenges and thrive.
